Thursday at the Festival

Here's a small selection of snaps taken on the opening night of the festival. It can only get better!

OPENING NIGHT
Posted 30 January 2012 by Martyn Pashley

We are please to announce that Mr Steve Dilworth, licensee of the splendid Swan with two Necks, will officially open the festival on Thursday.

The festival opens at 5.00pm and Steve will be on stage at 7:00pm alongside our major sponsors and committee.

Whilst Thursday is billed as a quite evening, we hope you will allow the branch time to tell you about Steve's fantastic achievements in a national search for the very best pub in Britain.

Here’s a run down of what will be on the live stage throughout the festival...

Friday Night
Vicky and the Big Combo – 8.00pm
Vicky and her band are back again by popular demand to fill the festival headline spot. They have made quite a name for themselves across the North West with an eclectic mix of covers from artists as diverse as Tina Turner, Bob Marley, Snow Patrol and ZZ Top.

Saturday Afternoon
Scuppered
Traditional folk, ’60s pop, contemporary folk, country, Scottish dance and original material with more than a smattering of the band’s enthusiastic humour thrown in for good measure.

Queen and Country
Unique harmony-based country-style band playing music influenced by Bruce Springsteen, Ryan Adams and Brian Wilson.

Stephen Wagstaff (Waggy)
The beer festival’s own virtuoso English concertina player. Waggy will play us a wide selection of lively tunes to get everyone’s feet tapping.

Saturday Evening
The Witnesses – 7.30pm
Four-piece rock ‘n’ roll band from the North West that play a potent mixture of homegrown blues, R’n’B and country music. Find out more at www.thewitnesses.co.uk

Special Ladies Preview Evening
Posted 13 January 2012 by Martyn Pashley

This year Pendle Beer Festival launches a new event aimed at women: An exclusive Ladies Only Preview Evening on Wednesday 1st February at 7.30pm on the night before the main festival starts.

The event is an opportunity for women to try real ale in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Women will be able to try a variety of different beer styles and enjoy a tour round the beer festival hall before the doors officially open on the Thursday.

Karen Pashley, a volunteer at the festival, said “With so many beers available it’s difficult to decide which ones to try. This event will provide an introduction to beer styles and will help women to find their favourites whilst they sample some great beers”

All proceeds to Pendleside Hospice.

The event will take place in the Lesser Muni and tickets are available at a cost of £10 from Karen on 870152 or by e-mailing pbf2012ladies@gmail.com.

Why not come along with a group of friends, try something new and benefit a local good cause?

Record Fundraising for Pendleside Hospice
Posted 15 February 2011 by Martyn Pashley

The 7th Pendle Beer Festival was a fantastic success with £5,642 being raised for Pendleside Hospice. This remarkable figure was achieved through barrel sponsorship, raffle ticket sales and kind donations.

It goes without saying that Pendleside Hospice would like to thank all those involved, including Hospice volunteers, East Lancs CAMRA and in particular Martyn Pashley (festival organiser) who, with the help of his team, worked relentlessly to put on the event and make it so successful.

Pendleside Hospice would also like to pay special thanks to all those who contributed, bought raffle tickets and merchandise and not forgetting those who sponsored a beer barrel at £40 with all of the proceeds going directly towards patient care. This year we had a record 85 barrel sponsors in total which was 30 more than last year and who knows we may get even more next year.
